Benson & Clegg is pleased to introduce this new range of scarves made using Escorial wool. The suppleness and fluidity of the Escorial fabric delivers a garment of comfort and performance, and its unique properties lend themselves naturally to a scarf in keeping the wearer both warm and stylish in the cold weather.
Escorial is a rare and luxurious wool from a small sheep originating from the Spanish Royal flocks of El Escorial, today only to be found in small numbers in Australia and New Zealand. It is a fibre rich in both history and geography. Spanning many centuries in its travels across the globe, from North Africa’s highest mountain to the palace of El Escorial, before reaching its final resting place, far away in the Spanish antipodes.
Considered by many as one of the world’s finest naturally grown fibres, there are only three remaining direct descendant flocks, all within Australasia. Escorial wool has a unique helical crimp that entraps air and fills more space with less weight.
