A Touch of Craft

Situated in London’s St James's for over 80 years, Benson & Clegg are proud to have garnered a reputation for quality craftsmanship and artisanal prowess. Not only do we hold the honour of being the only true bespoke tailors situated in the St James’s district, but we are proud holders of the Royal Warrant to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, affirmation (if any were needed) of our unrivalled quality and service. Today, situated in London’s Piccadilly Arcade, Benson & Clegg continue to set the same exacting standards that have made the company what it is today, creating products of unmistakable quality.

It was 1937 when Harry Benson & Thomas Clegg, two well established West-end cutters with over 30 years in the trade between them, decided to establish a partnership and trade under the name Benson & Clegg. Today, our bespoke tailoring service is the very embodiment of luxury and refinement, each garment representing our longstanding heritage as master tailors and the years of dedicated craftsmanship we have become known for.

Our process allows for a truly bespoke approach to tailoring. Traditional techniques combine with precision workmanship to make for a garment that is timeless and wholly unique. Every paper pattern and each piece of cloth is cut by hand, while every detail is considered, refined and finished by our expert team of tailors – all on our iconic premises in London’s Piccadilly Arcade, ensuring a garment of outstanding quality made to the very highest standards.

Our extensive collection of blazer buttons are famous the world over, each one carefully designed and considered before being given final approval by Benson & Clegg’s Managing Director, Mark Gordon. Crafted in England, in the heart of Birmingham’s jewellery quarter, our blazer buttons are crafted by hand using methods and techniques which have not changed for centuries.

A pair of Benson & Clegg cufflinks represent the finishing touch to the impeccable English wardrobe, embodying true artisanal skills and traditional craftsmanship. Our designs are inspired by the original classics of fine English tailoring – often imitated, but never equalled. We have curated our range to satisfy all tastes and styles, from classic enamel to our precious stone collection – with each pair of cufflinks a reflection of our originality, quality and creativity. Referencing icons of Englishness, from historical military regiments to the members’ clubs of Mayfair, Benson & Clegg cufflinks strike a smart balance between British sophistication and a universal style which remains timeless.

A Royal Warrant of Appointment is a mark of recognition of those who have supplied goods or services to the Households of The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh or The Prince of Wales for at least five years, and who have an ongoing trading arrangement. The symbol of the Royal Warrant represents a company has achieved the highest standards of service, quality and excellence.

Benson & Clegg is the proud holder of the Royal Warrant to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, an honour we have held since 1992. However, this honour is not the first royal patronage in the company’s history. Our first Royal Warrant was received back in 1944, bestowed upon us by our most famous customer, His Majesty King George VI. During his reign, King George VI epitomised British sartorial style and sophistication, and his suits were admired across the globe. His clothing represented the best in British tailoring, a tradition we have continued to this day.
