Introducing Ottaway Style X Benson & Clegg, our newest capsule collection for SS21 that draws inspiration from the style icons of the 1960's, an era when men and women looked effortlessly glamorous, whether enjoying an espresso poolside at Hotel Du Cap, or sipping aperitifs on the Amalfi Coast.
With garments crafted in both Italy and the UK, this new collection has been designed in collaboration with stylist and friend of the brand, Joe Ottaway. Knowing that Joe was a fan of our work, we invited him to our tailoring lounge where conversation soon turned to building a capsule wardrobe.
“During the last year, the world of socialising, travel and fashion has changed. This collection gives men an opportunity to abandon the loungewear and, instead, dress up and be inspired by an era when men looked effortlessly stylish.”
Joe drew heavily upon his time travelling across Spain and Italy, and the relaxed yet refined elegance that is synonymous with the Mediterranean culture. This was a key influence and inspiration for the collection which comprises of garments that are timeless in style, fit perfectly and can be worn effortlessly from day to night, beach to evening meal. The result is a very personal collection, the staples that Joe sees as the cornerstone of a contemporary wardrobe.
Our double breasted suit in grey fresco is a fresh take on a summer classic. For elevating your everyday style, our khaki linen and white seersucker shackets are the perfect jackets for those long summer vacations and are equally at home in both casual or formal surroundings. Our camp collar shirts – the sophisticated cousin of the bold Hawaiian print shirt – come in light blue and sage stripe, and are the perfect garments to add some laidback elegance to your everyday look. The Riviera Polo positively exudes old school European style. Crafted in Italy, it features an open neck collar and ribbed hems for comfort and elegance. And for those warm afternoons that soon transition into cool summer evenings, our lightweight knitted tee is the perfect choice.
“We wanted to create a collection that affords a man multiple looks with a minimal number of pieces – and minimal fuss. We love the idea of a gent only having to pack only 8-10 key pieces for a summer holiday, along with a good cologne, two pairs of great shoes, all packed in a vintage trunk ready to jet off to warmer climes, whatever the occasion.”
During the creative process we were very conscious of the mantra "less is more". Sustainability is a key focus of the collection, with every piece available on a made-to-order basis – a move that not only reduces waste, but also simplifies the process of placing an order with us. Each garment in the range is fully customisable and interchangeable, designed to mix and match. Ethical clothing is an important part of looking forward and, with zero wastage through excess stock levels, the made-to-order collection is more than just sensible for the world of today, it is sustainable for tomorrow.
